Advanced Safety & Precision Technologies

  • Intelli-Sensor Recognition Technology

AlcoLimit’s Intelli-Sensor Recognition Technology automatically checks the condition of the sensor every time the breathalyser is used. The system analyses sensor stability and monitors alcohol residue build-up to help maintain optimal performance. If recalibration is required, the device will provide a clear notification, ensuring ongoing accuracy and dependable results.

  • Flow Control Technology

AlcoLimit’s advanced Flow Control Technology ensures accurate and reliable results by monitoring the flow rate of each breath sample. The device requires a sufficient and consistent breath sample before a reading is displayed, helping to improve accuracy and prevent invalid tests. This is one of several built-in safety features designed to enhance the performance and reliability of the AlcoLimit range.

RBT Plus Wallmount Breathalyser FAQs

Your questions answered

Is the RBT Plus certified to Australian Standards?

Yes — it's certified to AS3547:1997, the Australian Standard for breath alcohol testing devices.

What type of sensor does the RBT Plus use?

A professional electrochemical fuel cell sensor, purpose-built for breath alcohol measurement.

How does Self-Replaceable Sensor (SRS) technology work?

You order a pre-calibrated replacement sensor, click out the old one and click in the new one yourself — no technician visit required. The used sensor is then posted back to AlcoLimit for recalibration and future reuse.

How often does the sensor need replacing?

Every 6 months, depending on usage volume. The unit's built-in usage counter and recalibration reminder help flag when a swap is due.

Can I have the unit calibrated by AlcoLimit instead of doing it myself?

There is no need to return the whole breathalyser unit. Simply remove the sensor and send just the sensor back to us for calibration. We recommend having 2 sensors in total and hot-swapping them every 6 months. Your used sensor can be held at our service centre until the next calibration is due and returned to you just in time for the next calibration. this also helps you to remember to swap the sensors out.

Can the RBT Plus be set up for free use?

Yes, it can be configured for free-use self-testing, which is the most common setup for workplaces.

Can it be coin-operated?

Yes, it can be configured to accept $1 or $2 coins per test, which is popular with pubs, clubs and other venues. There is an additional charge for a coin mechanism and 1-2 week lead time.

What's included with a purchase?

The breathalyser, a separate (attachable) straw dispenser, power supply, an instruction manual, and free access to our online servicing training module.

How long should someone wait after drinking before testing?

At least 20 minutes. Testing sooner can affect accuracy and shorten sensor life.

Is the RBT Plus suitable for confirming someone is legally fit to drive?

No — it's a screening and self-testing device, not a legal or evidentiary instrument. Always follow applicable laws and your organisation's policy.

Where can I install the RBT Plus?

Anywhere with wall space and power access (within 1m) — common locations include workplace entrances, employee locker rooms, and venue entry points.

Can I use normal drinking straws ro does it require a specific mouthpiece?

Yes. The RBT Plus uses standard drinking straws, making mouthpieces simple and economical to keep stocked. We recommend using individually wrapped straws available in boxes of 250 from BioPak.

Who is the RBT Plus suitable for?

Organisations and venues needing regular alcohol self-testing — workplaces, mine sites, construction companies, transport operators, manufacturers, pubs, clubs, RSLs and event venues.
